It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our leader Mr. William Ernest Shipman on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. A pillar of strength and leadership. Mr. Shipman faithfully served as President & CEO of Peoples Funeral Home of Shallotte, Inc., a cornerstone institution in the Brunswick County area.

Mr. Shipman was a man who wore many hats: business owner, a respected leader in the funeral service profession, proprietor, and trusted insurance agent.

His legacy is deeply felt not only through his professional contributions but through the lives he touched with compassion, wisdom, and dignity.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Brunswick Waccamaw Missionary Baptist Association, 600 Pine Log Road, Whiteville, NC 28472. Burial will follow at Sandhill Baptist Cemetery, 15580 Twisted Hickory Road, Bladenboro, NC 28320. Viewing will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1:00PM-4:00PM at Peoples Funeral Home-Shallotte Chapel, 5190 Ocean Hwy. West, Shallotte, NC 28470, and Peoples Funeral Home-Whiteville, 707 Vinson Blvd., Whiteville, NC 28472, from 5:00-7:00 PM. A viewing will be held also on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Brunswick Waccamaw Missionary Baptist Association 1-Hour Prior (12:00-1:00 PM) to the services.
